4TH EXPOSURE:

    PHASE 1 IMPLEMENTATION & UPDATES

Below are the first and early steps of our CHP projects, which mainly revolved around

identifying base knowledge and health teaching to the community people.

TRACK ZERO PROJECT

  • As of February 2016, implementation of TZP proposals (submitted to the BSWM Council last October 2015) has started.

 

  • The current BSWM Council is established as the Task Force Zero led by the Brgy Capt. Virgilio Barbon.

 

  • The Barangay Council has established five (5) Barangay Resource Recovery Center; one in every purok.

 

 

  • Conducted a Lecture Assembly on “Resource Management” and “The Compost Process” among 176/243 household representatives. 4/6/16

 

  • Distributed 150 IEC pamphlets containing information on “The Composting Process” among lecture assembly participants. 4/6/16

 

  • During the lecture, everyone was encouraged to practice “No Segregation. No Collection.” Every house is entitled to have their own segregating trash bins.

 

  • In partnership with the BSWM Council, the Team Lakewood 2.0 has provided the postage labels for each BRRC.

 

 

  • Posted IEC postages (reference labels for plastics/paper & bottles/cans) among Barangay Resource Recovery Center per purok (x5). 4/8/16

 

  • As of April 6, 2016, the BRRC was announced to the public and became functional by April 8, 2016.

 

  • Setting up of compost pit/s per household is on its progress. Strategic compost locations per purok is yet to be established.

 

  • The Barangay Five- Year Development Plan includes setting up a vermicompost site.

 

  • The Barangay Council has asked for our support in this project, hence the project has been included in our strategies.

 

  • Followed up schedules of garbage truck collection among component barangays (as well as its implementation).

 

  • The BSWM Council (Task Force Zero) has allocated a lot/space for the MRF.

 

  • *To consult Municipal Engineer for the design of BTC and MRF.

 

  • Asked help from the Barangay Captain and his Secretary for the drafting of the ordinance.

  • Conducted health teaching on the immunization 100% of those who passed got a score of more than 50% in the post test

  • Distribution and posting of the IEC materials

  • Distributed Pamphlets on immunization

  • Created masterlist of children under five years old

  • Created record for the BHC

  • Created core group called Pulis Pangkalawasan

  • Approved proposal

  • Conducted health teaching on the immunization 100% of those who passed got a score of more than 50% in the post test

PREPARED INSTITUIONAL DELIVERY

  • Conducted lecture on facility-based deliveries to pregnant women, with emphasis on but not limited to the following:

 

Benefits of a facility-based delivery

Risks of home deliveries to both the mother and child

Importance of a Skilled birth attendant during labor and delivery

- Pretest scores:

48% - passed

52% - failed

Post-test scores:

98% - passed

2% - failed

Number of items – 10

Passing score – 8

 

  • Established Prepared Institutional Delivery (PID) program for all pregnant women, especially those at risk via pregnancy tracking and master listing which includes but not limited to:

 

Primigravid

Multigravida

With comorbidities

With complications

With history of abortion, preterm birth, structural problems, past C-section, etc.

 

  • Components of the program includes the following:

 

  1. Baby at Buntis Emergency Referral Pathway (Baby BERP)” – contains the necessary contact information, communication and transport pathway to aid the patient during onset of labor based on risk and needs assessment conducted during prenatal check-ups were given to each pregnant mother. 

  2. Conducted a counseling session and lecture about the importance of facility-based deliveries to pregnant mothers during prenatal check-ups, with emphasis on:

    • Benefits of a facility-based delivery

    • Risks of home deliveries to both the mother and child

    • Importance of a Skilled birth attendant during labor and delivery

    • - Pretest scores:

    • 80% - passed

    • 20% - failed

    • Post-test scores:

    • 100% - passed

    • 0 - failed

    • Number of items – 10

    • Passing score – 8

  3. Promoted the utilization of the halfway house or “Bahay ni Nanay” at the Rural health unit, to all pregnant mothers, during their prenatal checkups at the Health Center, and home visits thru pamphlets.

  4. Promoted the completion of a birth plan to prepare the mother for delivery, during the counseling session conducted at prenatal visit.
